Charline Cleaver

Charline Cleaver is a Calgary based actress whose kindness, passion, and professionalism have made her a sought after creative. She got her first taste of acting in a church musical production at the young age of 9. In high school she participated in school productions and loved spending time in the music department practicing voice, piano, and violin. Charline attended Queens University completing her Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Drama and Music and then went on to complete her Bachelor of Education in the same disciplines. Charline was residing in Kingston Ontario when she met Canadian Film Maker Anthony D.P. Mann while working at Starbucks. He was in the process of starting a reality television show with the local cogeco station where he would be casting the lead in his feature film. Charline auditioned and made it to the finale as the runner up. She went on to do two additional projects with Anthony including being a judge on the local reality television show “Tiny Tim: Casting a Holiday Classic.” After acquiring local representation, she did some work in commercial print modelling and local commercials. Wanting to learn as much as she could about the filming process, she began working in Toronto with a background acting agency. During that season she went from set to set as a background actor for two and a half years.

She loved absorbing all she could by watching some of her favourite actors work. Building a strong reputation with her punctuality and professionalism, she acquired continuity background roles for shows like “Anne with E” and “Salvation.” She was also featured in an episode of Designated Survivor and is most commonly recognized as a dance judge in the netflix film “Feel the beat”.

After building confidence and experience she found principal representation in Toronto and went on to work in Canadian and US national commercials as well as non-union television shows. Her dream has always been to work in film and television, and so taking a break from commercials, she has spent the past two years taking classes when possible with multi-talented Canadian actor, writer, director Chad Rook.

Charline has always had a desire to align her creative career with the values she holds dear. She knows the impact stories have on day to day lives. This past year, when an opportunity came to work on a faith film she felt it was an incredible blessing. The film is now in post-production and more details will be shared in the future. Charline has always been writing and creating ideas throughout her career. She looks forward to some day pitching one of her scripts and hopefully directing her first feature film. This would be the true culmination of all her years of experience.
